Feedback from the Architecture Practitioners' Conference
Judith Jones of Architecting-The-Enterprise lead a feedback session on the
presentations, discussions, and feedback from the APC, particularly with respect to the
impact on the future evolution of TOGAF.
IT Architect Profession
Walter Stahlecker of HP and David Jackson of IBM reviewed the status of this project,
which represents one of the three core elements of the Architecture Forum's overall vision
and strategy (an effective IT Architecture framework, an effective IT Architecture
discipline, effective IT Architecture tools).
The project aims to develop a definition of IT Architect roles, skills and experience,
and a supporting certification program, in collaboration with other key consortia and
standards bodies.
DODAF Integration
John Spencer, Director of the Architecture Forum, reported on discussions with Fatma
Dandashi of The MITRE Corporation, on the possibility of integrating the TOGAF ADM with
the products, and particularly the defined viewpoints, of the US Department of Defense
Architecture Framework (DODAF).
Collaboration with the OMG
Terry Blevins, CIO of The Open Group, reported on recent work to progress the joint
project between The Open Group and OMG, to develop an agreed positioning of the TOGAF ADM
and MDA.
Future Working
Chris Greenslade of Architecting-The-Enterprise, and Chair of the Architecture Forum,
presented proposals for a long-term life-cycle strategy for TOGAF and the work of the
Architecture Forum, and the way in which the Forum should organize its structures and
working methods to support those goals.
TOGAF Translation
Terry Blevins, CIO of The Open Group, reported on recent work to develop translations
into various languages other than English, of a core of the TOGAF documentation set.
TOGAF9 ADM Workshop
Judith Jones of Architecting-The-Enterprise Limited, lead a half-day workshop building
on previous discussions and the output of similar workshops at the Washington and San
Diego Members Meetings, also taking on board the input from the Architecture Practitioners
Conference.
