This presentation will introduce the Component Business Modelling (CBM) method, and show how discrete business components map onto
a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA). We will then provide an example of how CBM has been used in the commercial sector.

CBM is a method for modelling a business enterprise into non-overlapping and unique components. Each component is a logical grouping of people, technology and resources that provides specific business value, and can operate independently. CBM represents these components in a tabular format, known as a Business Component Map which is depicted on one page. This business component map is then used to provide insight and subsequent direction in identifying and prioritising a range of business objectives. Examples of these business objectives are: drive business transformation, development of sourcing strategies, development of resource and capability plans, produce business and technology roadmaps etc.
