Enterprise Architecture and Strategic Planning |
|
Even in
most well run and profitable organisations, one important factor is invariably
neglected-the IT strategic plan. It is mostly non -existent and if found out to be
available mostly by sheer accident, is generally outdated. The combination of eternal pressures on IT to deliver, ever shortening IT technology cycles and the general lack of planning disciplines in IT culture, have resulted in obliterating the single most significant document for IT- the Three year IT strategic plan. As the starting point for an Enterprise Architecture project, ideally, is a well- thought- through IT strategic plan, one can not go very far in an Enterprise Architecture effort without it. How can an Enterprise Architect go forward with a practical approach to solve this problem of what comes first - Enterprise Architecture or IT strategic plan? |
