Austin Group Minutes of the 16 Jan Teleconference Austin-151 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. January 17, 2003 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Ulrich Drepper Nick Stoughton, WG15 OR Joanna Farley The call picked up at the aardvark at http://www.opengroup.org/austin/aardvark/finaltext/ As part of the second pass thru the aardvark , candidates for a future TC were noted and the aardvark marked with a TC notation as a reminder. It was agreed that a future call should have the scope of TC2 as an agenda item. The review progressed down to number 27. TC candidates noted at the meeting: XSH ERN: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,12,13,14,16,17,18,19,21,22,23,24,25,26 OPEN items : XSH ERN 8, it was decided that the second proposed alternative was preferred. It was undecided whether this should be an interp or a TC item -- that depends on the scope of TC2 discussion. XSH ERN 9, decided to be accept as marked with wording along the lines of Change beginning of line 9825 to: "SIG_IGN, and that the new process image inherits the signal mask of the thread that called exec in the old process image" XSH ERN 10, the group still maintains that they do not want to narrow the specification down further and that the wording should be left as is, and reject this. XSH ERN 11, the group had wanted to accept this last time, but Dave B had raised a concern. On further review, there were concerns with Dave B's proposed rewrite, especially the word "completion" and the feeling that the original action from Ulrich stand. XSH ERN 15. Action on AJ to send to the SSWG-RT XSH ERN 20. Action on AJ to write up proposed response from Base WG, basically what Ulrich proposes should stand with some additional rationale based on Dave B's mail. XSH ERN 26. The group agreed with the feedback from Dave B that we should accept the proposed change from Ulrich. XSH ERN 27. We still were unable to decide the change. Some debate over whether runtimes are needed to detect this, and that this should be moved to may fail. However other concerns that this should be like fclose() on on an already closed file. We need to get further threads experts onto the next call to close this, or perhaps schedule a call just for the threads experts. At this point we ran out of time. We managed to skip ahead to the recent new ERNs XSH ERN 44. It was agreed that this is an error, and that this be a TC candidate. XSH ERN 47. No decision made as yet but leaning towards an ACCEPT. AOB --- Andrew reported that we are targeting the "refresh" text with TC1 folded in in early February - we await the ISO ballot and The Open Group Board approval. He also reported that we want to include a small number of errata , and is working that with IEEE (one such example being the pervasive spelling error of cancelation) Next meeting ------------ The next meeting is proposed to be Thursday January 30th at the regular timeslot Andrew will update the aardvark reports on the web site with the latest information.
