Austin Group Minutes of the 14 August Teleconference Austin-184 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. August 15, 2003 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Nick Stoughton, USENIX, WG15 OR Ulrich Drepper, Red Hat Dave Butenhof, HP Mark Ziegast Joanna Farley, Sun Apologies Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Andrew reported that IEEE approved the PAR for TC2, so today is the cutoff. Andrew reported that the ISO 2003 edition will be published on the 15 August 2003 XSH --- XSH ERN 77,81,82 A/M Dave B had circulated a proposal with new text for 2.9.5.3 to address this ERN and also 81 and 82. Accept Dave B's proposal, and note that we could change the section title in a future revision (not a TC). Accepting the change for 77 means that 81 and 82 can be dup'd to 77. XSH ERN 97 OPEN Need response from all to email sent to reflector XSH ERN 101 OPEN The feeling was that the change would violate the original spirit of the working group, but would improve the usability. It was noted that the same result could be achieved using a different change, i.e.. If you reallocate the key you are guaranteed to get a null value key Leave open for one more week. XSH ERN 113 OPEN Awaiting response from the Base WG XSH ERN 117 OPEN Fred T has filed a DR against ISO C, so this will remain open pending response XSH ERN 140 Accept XSH ERN 141 Accept XSH ERN 142 Accept (the ordering of wording in ISO C is thought to be significant) XSH ERN 143 Accept XSH ERN 144 Accept XSH ERN 145 Accept XSH ERN 146 Accept (it was noted that since this function is not widely implemented it was appropriate to TC this change before it gets widely deployed with the problem) XCU --- XCU ERN 23 OPEN XBD --- XBD ERN 17 A/M Standard does not specify how wide characters are encoded. There is no way to implement wide characters in the charmap. Feeling that proposed changes fine, agreed to add more wording stating that this standard provides no means of defining a wide character codeset. XBD ERN 27 OPEN Andrew has action to put words together for pathconf(). Next Steps ----------- Andrew will update the aardvark reports on the web site with the latest information including new aardvark subsequently received. The next call will be August 21
