Austin Group Minutes of the 8 April Teleconference Austin-209 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. April 13, 2004 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Nick Stoughton, USENIX, WG15 OR Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Ulrich Drepper, Red Hat Apologies Joanna Farley, Sun Dave Butenhof, HP Draft Status --------------- Technical Corrigendum 2 (just the changes document) was published on April 2nd. The next merged document, which will be the 2004 edition of the POSIX 1003.1, containing the complete text with both Technical Corrigendum 1 and Technical Corrigendum 2 applied, is due for publication on April 30. Defect Report Processing ------------------------- The group picked up on the latest batch of defect reports, which are available at the following URL: http://www.opengroup.org/austin/aardvark/latest/ XCU ERN 18 mailx and the effects of LC_TIME OPEN The review group felt that the wording could be clarified and that this should be submitted down the interpretations track. It was agreed that some more research was needed as to the precise affects of the LC_TIME variable and that this item be left open until the next meeting. XCU ERN 19 pax header fields and utf-8 OPEN Don Cragun has volunteered to take an action to come back with a proposal for a new header keyword to allow a binary encoding. XCU ERN 20 , mailx next command following a hold OPEN The review group agreed that some more investigations were needed and left this item open for a future call. XBD ERN 7, OPEN This item was left open for a future call. XBD ERN 8 , the prototype for aio_suspend should have restrict as per lio_listio Accept as marked below: The review group noted that previously an issue was raised on lio_listio() (ERN finaltext/117) and that spawned a C defect report. The suggested change in this rdvk is not allowed by the current C standard, but it was agreed that it should be done once the C standard is changed to allow it to happen. Andrew took an action to add this rdvk item to SD/5 and this item has to be tied to the change in the C standard - the current C DR reference is 289. Next Steps ----------- Andrew will update the aardvark reports with the latest inbound defect reports. We still need to discuss what the strategy is post TC2. There are a number of open action items outstanding: 1. Don Cragun Pathname Resolution proposal 2. Larry Dwyer system() and threads 3. Joerg Schilling wording for XCU ERN 1 pax 4. Don Cragun to draft proposal for XCU ERN 19 5. Mark Brown to do further investigation for XCU ERN 18. The next teleconference call is scheduled for April 22 2004
