Draft Status
---------------
Andrew reported that he'd had email exchanges with the ISO
editors, the upshot of which is that he had retypset the
Technical Corrigendum into four separate documents using
the relevant ISO template. He has now submitted the documents
to the ANSI secretariat.

Defect Report Processing
-------------------------
The group picked up on the latest batch of defect reports,
which are available at the following URL:
http://www.opengroup.org/austin/aardvark/latest/

XSH ERN 41 exit OPEN

This item had been previously rejected but in the light of comments
on the reflector has been revisited. A revised proposal is
in the aardvark reports. This is being left open for further
feedback.

XSH ERN 42 sigpause and process signal mask Accept as marked below

Go with Option 2 .
Change
"thread" to "process" under the RETURN VALUE heading and move
sigpause() from the "shall" list to the "may" list in 2.9.5.2
 Cancellation Points.

XSH ERN 43 pthread_mutex_lock Accept

XSH ERN 44 pthread_cond_timedwait EINVAL Error OPEN
The group is leaning towards a reject, with
concerns about whether the proposal is the right thing to do to
be so specific here. The wording allows an implementation
to return EINVAL but it would also be allowed to normalize the
value to something and not return an error.
Leave open for one more week.

XSH ERN 45 popen Accept as Marked below
This should be forwarded down the interpretations track with
concerns being forwarded to the sponsor.

A proposed future revision should consider the following changes:

On items 1 and 2

1. If mode is r -> If the first character of mode is r

2. If mode is w -> If the first character of mode is w

Change item 3 to
If mode is not a value starting with r or w that would be
acceptable as a value to the mode
argument to fopen() the result is undefined

Add fopen to the SEE ALSO list on 25890

XBD ERN 14 netdb.h s_port OPEN
The group could not see a need for the change, and would request that
Geoff provide more background information as to why this change is needed.

XCU ERN 21 awk what does srand() time of day mean Reject

The standard does not specify what it means and that is intentional.
To specify the means would mean specifying the implementation.

Next Steps
-----------
Andrew will update the aardvark reports with the latest inbound
defect reports.

There are a number of open action items outstanding:
1. Don Cragun Pathname Resolution proposal
2. Larry Dwyer system() and threads
3. Joerg Schilling wording for XCU ERN 1 pax

The next teleconference call is scheduled for August 12 2004
