Austin Group Minutes of the 23 September Teleconference Austin-222 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. September 23, 2004 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Nick Stoughton, USENIX, SC22 OR Don Cragun , Sun, PASC OR Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Bill Toth, IBM Ulrich Drepper, Red Hat Keld Simonsen, DKUUG,SC22 OR (alternate) Apologies Dave Butenhof, HP Joanna Farley, Sun ISO Status ---------------- Nick reported on the recent ISO SC22 meeting. WG15 has been dissolved due to inactivity by the committee and the convenor. SC22 has decided to establish a POSIX advisory group to manage the ISO POSIX standards and to enable ISO participation in the Austin Group in a form similar to the current method. Nick and Keld are reps in the interim (Nick is the primary SC22 OR, with Keld the alternate). The ORs and Chair saw no problems from a procedural point of view on the new arrangement for the ISO participation in the Austin Group (we still continue with 3 ORs) Andrew noted that it is likely that a meeting of the ISO POSIX advisory could be held at The Open Group in the UK towards the end of year or early next year -- and that we would hold an Austin Group face to face adjacent with that if folks agree - the primary agenda would be to review all recent aardvark for a future work plan. (Note that Andrew intends on giving at least 45 days notice of a meeting, the procedures say 30 days) (it may be that the POSIX AdvG needs 90 days notice) Defect Report Processing ------------------------- The group picked up on the latest batch of defect reports, which are available at the following URL: http://www.opengroup.org/austin/aardvark/latest/ XBD ERN 14 netdb.h s_port value Accept XBD ERN 15 string.h vs strerror_r man page prototype conflict Accept (this is an editorial error, the strerror_r man page has precedence) XBD ERN 17 XBD 2.1.6 list of UPE utilities misses csplit Accept XBD ERN 18 html indexing correction Accept XBD ERN 19 XBD 8.1 Environment Variables OPEN As an interpretation this appears to match the case that the standard is clear, concerns fwd to sponsor. XCU ERN 30 tr OPEN Pending action on MB XCU ERN 36 test and shell arithmetic expressions OPEN The group discussed this but did not have time to complete the issue. It was agreed so far that test asdf -ge 0 is a syntax error and is expected to return something greater than 1 The evaluation of $((asdf + 1)) depends on what the environment variable asdf is set to To be continued...
