Action AI-2006-06-01: Andrew to work out the full set of changes for recirculation for XSH ERN 132 OPEN Draft Status ------------ Andrew announced that draft two of the revision (D2R) was made available on plan on October 31st, with the Austin Group review running until January 31st 2007. The draft is 3790 pages. Andrew has uploaded the draft to IEEE and is awaiting IEEE editorial approval to commence the IEEE ballot. The period of that ballot will be within the Nov 1- Jan 31 timeframe. Andrew has also sent the files to the ANSI secretariat to commence the ISO CD registration and ballot (a 3 month timeframe). We hope that the ISO ballot will have completed by the time of the February meeting (last week in Feb 2007). Sally Seitz has acknowledged receipt and is awaiting confirmation of the draft being posted on the ISO web site from Keld. Andrew reported that we have a number of quirks to resolve with the new typesetting environment, for example the way it draws shading is different, which can obscure the draft marking and footers on some pages --- minimally we need it to only white out the text to above the footer and not the bottom of the page, also page breaks in manual pages appear to need some work, they sometimes break too soon when they need not. Andrew has also made an unofficial set of files with diffs against the 2004 edition, available on request -- note the line numbers differ from those being balloted. ISO C meeting report ---------------------- Nick reported on the ISO C meeting that was held last week in Portland. Of the defect reports that were raised, the most notable is strerror() where the ISO C committee has not been able to reach any consensus on its return value. The major news item is that the ISO C committee is considering a revision, and will discuss this further at their London meeting in April 2007.
