The Austin Common Standards Revision Group (CSRG) is a joint technical
working group that manages the joint specification that is  ISO/IEC 9945
(POSIX), IEEE Std 1003.1 and The Open Group Base Specifications Issue 6.

Work continues in the Austin Group in regular teleconferences and on the
email reflector. The major work item is the revision of the
joint standard, with the goal of a revised standard in 2008 (targeted
for the September 2008 IEEE Standards Board).

The Austin Group met at IBM  in Austin, Texas, USA  on
February 27 - March 1 2007 to review comments received on Draft two
of the revision.

Deliverables from the plenary meeting include detailed editing
instructions for the editors based on the review comments (Austin/349-353 *),
together with an updated project plan (Austin/345, Austin/346) 
detailing the timeline and the  ballot cycle.

The next draft to be produced will be Draft 3 on June 15 2007.  This is
one month later than originally planned, but this is due to one of the
later drafts being omitted from the schedule as balloting on draft two
indicates a better  level of consensus than planned.  Draft three will
be the first draft on which the narrowing down rules will be applied and
subsequent drafts will then aim to take the document through to completion
of the relevant approval ballots in the sponsoring bodies. The next face
to face meeting will be in Reading, UK in the week commencing September
4th 2007.  The next revision is still on track to complete by
September 2008.
