Austin Group Status Report Austin-426 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. Mar 6, 2008 The Austin Common Standards Revision Group (CSRG) is a joint technical working group that manages the joint specification that is ISO/IEC 9945 (POSIX), IEEE Std 1003.1 and The Open Group Base Specifications Issue 6. Work continues in the Austin Group in regular teleconferences and on the email reflector. The major work item is the revision of the joint standard, with the goal of a revised standard in 2008 (targeted for the September 2008 IEEE Standards Board). The Austin Group met at The Open Group in San Francisco, USA on March 4-5 2008 to review comments received on Draft four of the revision and defect reports against the 2004 edition. Approximately twenty changes were agreed to be made to the draft as a result of the draft four review. Deliverables from the plenary meeting include detailed editing instructions for the editors based on the review comments (Austin/422-425 *), together with an updated project plan (Austin/420, Austin/421) detailing the timeline and the ballot cycle. An interim draft (Austin Group review only) is planned for April 4th and will last three weeks. This is to check that the final changes identified in the draft four review have been applied correctly. A final draft is then planned for May 15 2008, which will be submitted to IEEE for a final recirculation ballot (15 days), and to ISO/IEC for the final FDIS ballot (a yes/no only ballot that lasts two months). The Open Group approval is targeted for the July 24th 2008 Governing Board meeting. IEEE approval is targeted for the September 22nd 2008 Standards Board. We anticipate ISO/IEC approval by early September. The next meeting to consider the draft is planned to be a virtual meeting on May 1st to review the interim draft. Other regular meetings will be occurring as per the events diary** * See http://www.opengroup.org/austin/docreg.html for the document register ** See http://www.opengroup.org/austin/
