Minutes of the 5 May 2011 Teleconference Austin-521 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. May 7 , 2011 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun, PASC OR Jim Pugsley, Oracle Geoff Clare, The Open Group Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Eric Blake, Red Hat Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC OR * Old Business There were a number of IEEE items that need discussing. 1. The 2008-TC1 PAR: Don and Andrew will attend the NESCOM meeting to respond to any questions. Written responses to NESCOM have included alternative less specific wording for the scope and purpose. 2. We have received notice of the expiry of the C++ PAR. This item is still open. Nick will contact a number of the working group members to determine status. It is likely that we will withdraw the PAR. * New Business We picked up on regular Bug processing. ++ Old bugs Bug 0000251: Forbid bytes 1 through 31 (inclusive) in filenames OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=251 Don reported that he is progressing with the white paper. Bug 0000411: adding atomic FD_CLOEXEC support OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=411 This was discussed again. There are some suggestions to add an example of a popen implementation. We agreed to leave this open to allow further wording cleanup and development of an example. Bug 0000370: addclose should not cause posix_spawn to fail if closing an already closed fd Accept as Marked http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=370 This was an interpretation that had been discussed the previous week and wording in non-normative text had been updated. It was agreed that a further 30 day review was unnecessary and we should finalize the interpretation. Action: Andrew to finalize (Completed after the meeting) ++ New bugs Bug 0000414: "val" should scan directories like other SCCS commands OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=414 It was noted that this and a few other bugs had been incorrectly filed against onlinepubs. We will move them to the correct project ( [1003.1(2008)/Issue 7] Shell and Utilities ). Bug 0000365: List of directories to visit and "-exec rm" Accepted as Marked http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=365 This item is tagged TC1-2008 Add to Description for find (issue 7 page 2737, line 89056): If a file is removed from or added to the directory hierarchy being searched it is unspecified whether or not find includes that file in its search. Bug 0000388: pthread condvars are not priority inheritance aware Rejected http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=388 Given that there is no existing practice for this, we are closing until there is an existing implementation, or until a complete specification for one is received. At such time this issue can be re-evaluated. Bug 0000391: ENOTSUP should not be a valid error for dirfd() OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=391 Don agreed to update the desired action. This will be reviewed at the next meeting. (action completed after the meeting) Bug 0000392: Give guidance on sigwaitinfo() and SA_SIGINFO Accepted http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=392 This item is tagged TC1-2008 Bug 0000393: The scandir() EMFILE description is out of date Accepted http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=393 This item is tagged TC1-2008 Next Steps ---------- The next call will be on May 19th at 08:00 Pacific and will continue processing defect reports.
