Minutes of the 28 July 2011 Teleconference Austin-532 Page 1 of 1 Submitted by Andrew Josey, The Open Group. July 30 , 2011 Attendees Andrew Josey, The Open Group Don Cragun, PASC OR Geoff Clare, The Open Group Mark Brown, IBM, TOG OR Jim Pugsley, Oracle Nick Stoughton, USENIX, ISO/IEC OR Eric Blake, Red Hat The TC1 Draft 2 review completes today. So far 5 bug reports have been received. The next draft is scheduled for August 15th. One item we need to address in the next draft is the blank rationale lines. Nick reported that at ISO, two POSIX documents are due for their 5 yearly review, these include Test Methods for POSIX.1 and the Realtime Application Environment Profile. There was a discussion about whether to renew or withdrawn. Nick stated that our default position would be to renew but not to object if others requested they be withdrawn. One view is that we should withdraw the test methods. We need to contact Joe Gwinn for his views on the Realtime profile. ACTION:Nick agreed he would contact Joe. * Old Business Left open from last time Bug 0000411: adding atomic FD_CLOEXEC support OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=411 Eric still has an open action to complete the changes for popen(). He expects to complete this soon Bug 0000465: is the list of special built-ins exhaustive (is "local" special)? OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=465 We're waiting on further response from David Korn on this item Bug 0000468: fgets() description misleading in case of immediate EOF Accepted as Marked http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=468 We discussed the status of this bug since comments had been raised since it was resolved, and there was a concern whether our process would handle this. In this particular case it was not thought to be an issue. The bug is pending for an interpretation and should move to the interpretations track. Bug 281 sort -M http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=281 This was discussed as the bug had been reopened (again), although the comments input did not help the committee fully understand why. It was agreed that we would add more rationale based on note 519 to the specification to explain the rationale further. Thus this bug would become accept as marked. ACTION:Don agreed to take an action to update the bug. * New Business We picked up on Bug processing for bugs reported against project TC1-2008. Bug 0000479 Reference to non-existent errata Reject http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=479 We had to reject this propose change of scope, since the scope wording is that approved by the IEEE NESCOM committee and we do not have leeway to change it further. Bug 0000477: Minor editorial problems in XSH changes Accept http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=477 Bug 0000476: reference to POSIX.1-201x in XCU/TC1/D2/0115 Accept http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=476 Bug 0000475: Missing "empty string" text in XSH/TC1/D2/0043 Accept http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=475 Bug 0000470: stdio.h function SEE ALSO updates OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=470 We agreed to accept this, but we should also include the function in wchar.h. ACTION:Eric agreed to take an action to update the bug. We moved back to the Issue 7 bugs: Bug 0000480: freopen, fclose effect on multiple file handles Accept as marked http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=475 This item is tagged for TC2-2008 An interpretation is required. Interpretation response: The standard is unclear on this issue, and no conformance distinction can be made between alternative implementations based on this. This is being referred to the sponsor. Rationale: Standard is contradictory on whether freopen() can reuse a file description when passed a null filename. Notes to the Editor (not part of this interpretation): Make the changes in the suggested action except do not make the changes suggested at line 16880. This item also impacts bug 87, which will impact the TC1 draft. Bug 482 has been filed to capture this matter and will be targeted for draft 3.
