Andrew has submitted the ballot summary and comments received into the document register. * Old Business +Bug 0000561: NUL-termination of sun_path in Unix sockets OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=561 Eric has an action to update the proposal. +mbsnrtowcs() discussion OPEN Nick filed a defect report in Mantis during the meeting. http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=601 +Bug 0000573: Please add '+' to the portable filename character set OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=573 Joerg has an action to prepare a proposed change. +Bug 0000592: consistent use of struct timespec OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=592 This item needs further investigation of existing implementations. +Bug 0000598: OH shading and new interfaces OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=598 Eric has an action to propose a new solution with self-contained headers. Bug 0000576: No format specifiers for several types OPEN http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=576 Bug 0000599: Reserved "no thread" value for pthread_t OPEN * Current Business The meeting focussed on resolution of comments received in TC1. Two comments had been received in the ISO ballot which were minor editorial changes to the frontmatter concerning removing references to WG15. These will be corrected in the final draft. Three comments were received in the IEEE ballot and a document of responses is being prepared. Note that the resolutions below use the IEEE convention of Accepted, Rejected or Revised (revised is equivalent to accepted as marked) IEEE comment # i-1 (Messina, Don) [editorial coordination] Accepted (no change needed to the document content) IEEE comment # i-2 (Karocki, Piotr) Rejected This item is not in scope of the TC document under ballot. However the standard developers have considered similar issues in http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=293, where they have considered very similar questions and proposed a solution for Issue 8 (namely, that Unicode normalization may but not must occur, and that EINVAL may be used to reject names that are not in a normalized form). IEEE comment # i-3 (Cragun, Donald) Revised (note this comment is identical to Mantis bug 575 - see later) After page 197 line 12291 add a new part to change number XSH/TC1/D5/0536: On Page: 1838 Line: 58710 Section: semget() In the FUTURE DIRECTIONS section, change from: None to: A future version may require that the value of the semval, sempid, semncnt, and semzcnt members of all semaphores in a semaphore set be initialized to zero when a call to semget() creates a semaphore set. Many semaphore implementations already do this and it greatly simplifies what an application must do to initialize a semaphore set. Within the Austin Group/The Open Group company review, three defect reports were submitted within the Mantis bug tracker. +Bug 0000600: asa obsolete Rejected http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=600 Although new versions of Fortran don't use column 1 in output sent to a printer for carriage control anymore, there are still programs running on POSIX systems that were built with older compilers. To successfully run those applications on current systems the asa utility is still needed. Furthermore, removing utilities is not allowed in a technical corrigenda. Therefore, this request is being rejected. +Bug 0000585: Updated fmemopen() description says it opens a "file" Accepted http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=585 Change "file" to "stream" on line 4823 (page 78) +Bug 0000575: semget() Future Directions should be updated Accepted As Marked http://austingroupbugs.net/view.php?id=575 (this bug is identical to IEEE comment # i-3) After page 197 line 12291 add a new part to change number XSH/TC1/D5/0536: On Page: 1838 Line: 58710 Section: semget() In the FUTURE DIRECTIONS section, change from: None to: A future version may require that the value of the semval, sempid, semncnt, and semzcnt members of all semaphores in a semaphore set be initialized to zero when a call to semget() creates a semaphore set. Many semaphore implementations already do this and it greatly simplifies what an application must do to initialize a semaphore set. Next Steps ---------- Activity will commence in the meanwhile to finalize the ballot cycle - a 10 day recirculation will be needed at IEEE. We also still have to complete a ballot of the change requests in The Open Group (a 1 week ballot) The changes to the TC1 draft will be as follows: 1. changes to the front matter to remove references to WG15 on page vi (physical pdf page 6), and changes to 2. Numbered page 78 (physical pdf page 86) Change Number: XSH/TC1/D5/0142 3. Numbered page 197 (physical pdf page 205) Change Number: XSH/TC1/D5/0536 The next call is on August 29. This call will be for the regular 90 minutes. http://austingroupbugs.net See the calendar for the list of dialup numbers.
