The response from The Open Group was that AIX, HP-UX and Solaris engineering have no objections to aligning with BSD and GNU behavior. Andrew will take the action to confirm that The Open Group will sponsor the interface. Update: Andrew has completed the action, and the responses are positive, so we should assume this is sponsored by The Open Group.
