Project Objectives

The overall goal of COMBINE is to support model-driven development of enterprise systems - using Components. This requires further development of methods, infrastructures and tools as well as business solutions for modeling, designing, deploying, testing and running components successfully in an enterprise-wide scale. 

COMBINE will provide:

Modeling of components for the enterprise

Tools that aid in the design and implementation of enterprise components

Tools that aid the deployment and execution of  components within an enterprise

Infrastructure support that provides flexibility of service, information handling and presentation

Analysis of the techniques and methodologies necessary to verify the implementation and conformance to standards of enterprise components

Project Tasks

The following project tasks will be undertaken within COMBINE project :

Development of cohesive component concepts independent of any particular technology (e.g. J2EE/EJB, COM or CORBA) that address granularity questions from coarse-grained to fine-grained components, which are applicable throughout the development lifecycle

Development and application of methodologies and tools that support process modeling and modeling from an enterprise viewpoint of RM-ODP

Development and application of methodologies and tools that support modeling in the computational viewpoint of RM-ODP

Development and application of methodologies and tools that support modeling in the information viewpoint of RM-ODP

Development of methodologies and tools that support modeling in the engineering and technology viewpoints of RM-ODP

Development of pilot implementations that validate the value of COMBINE methodologies and tools

Analysis of Quality Assurance and Testing Techniques that enable development of Conformance Tools and Tests for Component Based methodologies 

Ensuring early and continuous exploitation and dissemination of results
