During the Annual Conference, two of EMA's Committee efforts, MAWG and TSC, will be showcased with demonstrations.
EMA's Interoperability Committee's Message Attachment Work Group (MAWG) will feature a demonstration that will showcase the seamless exchange of message attachments, such as spreadsheets and word processing documents between different messaging products connected by an X.400 backbone. The inability to preserve message attachments and associated information, such as attachment type and name, continues to present an obstacle to the deployment of X.400 messaging backbones. MAWG has produced a multivendor agreement that aims to address this lack of interoperability.
Messaging Management's Technical Sub-Committee will host a demonstration on dynamic monitoring by multiple SNMP management stations. One station would house a generic SNMP manager, and the other would be specifically engineered for messaging management. Each monitoring station will be capable of monitoring different MTAs.
Scheduled to take place during the LAN track on Tuesday, May 9, will be an update of the work efforts of the LAN Messaging Committee's Message Reliant Application Integration work on e-forms. A panel will present survey results which are intended to discern and consolidate information regarding the use of electronic forms (e-forms) applications including demographics, deployment, benefits, value, and most importantly, the breadth of functionality. It is intended that the results of this survey will inform future standards efforts in e-forms.
The Portable Messaging Issues (PMI) Committee for the second year will host a Wireless Tutorial which consistently attracts user members who are interested in learning how wireless services can improve communications and enhance messaging platforms on which their companies rely. The Tutorial is purely educational and is meant to give attendees the "big picture" of wireless services by giving them the opportunity to witness real solutions and ask questions of how users implemented a technology.
The PMI Committee is also hosting a Wireless Pavilion which is intended to provide a forum for show attendees to learn about the fundamentals of wireless technologies by highlighting wireless messaging services through of the integration of wireless and messaging services used by businesses and organizations today.
In addition, EMA will host a Committee breakfast to introduce members to EMA's Committees and will inform attendees on how Committees operate, what issues are being working on, etc. It is open for all and a great chance to also network with members that are active in work efforts.
Watch for details.
