the 1998-1999 EMA Board of Directors
(Originally published in Messaging Magazine, November/December 1998)
The EMA Board of Directors is the senior policy-making body of the Association; and as such it is responsible for setting the strategic direction for the organizations support of the electronic messaging industry. Companies are elected to two-year terms on the fifteen-seat Board by the designated representative of each member company. (The companies nominated for the Board will select a company representative who will serve if elected). Roughly half the seats are up for election each year.

Compaq Computer Corporation: Roger Mizumori, Technical Director |
| Roger Mizumori has served EMA in the past as
Vice Chair, Board member, Infrastructure Coordinator of Challenge 97, and speaker,
and is still actively involved with numerous committee activities. He is actively involved
in Compaq/Digitals Electronic Messaging & Collaboration Program marketing and
development efforts. Additionally, as Senior Product Manager, he facilitates collaboration
of internal development groups with Compaq/Digitals partners. With 17 years service
at Boeing, Mr. Mizumori has seen the evolution of messaging since 1983. He has also been
published in numerous books and industry journals. Mr. Mizumori sees EMA as an organization in transition. It must continue to provide leadership in resolving issues facing the industry, improving communication and integration for individuals and companies around the globe. It must also drive the industry to the next level of business application integration. Compaq/Digital has been providing electronic messaging services to over 15 million users for over 18 years and is forging new relationships in the industry to further help deliver new electronic messaging networks to customers throughout the world. Compaq/Digital has been actively involved with EMA since its inception. Compaq/Digital represents its views at EMA as a developer of electronic messaging solutions, as an end user and as a consultancy. |

Control Data Systems, Inc.: David Folsom, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer |
| Dave Folsom leads the Electronic Commerce
Technologies Solutions unit of Control Data Systems, Inc. One of his key strengths is in
leading organizational transition, having helped Control Datas technology divisions
accomplish this task every 23 years for the last 15 years. He also brings a wealth
of expertise in using new technologies to solve business problems and justifying them
through better business practices. Mr. Folsoms vision for the Board includes continuing to expand from a pure messaging focus into the new areas of electronic commerce and collaborative computing using the Internet as a standard means of communicating. He feels that instead of mirroring what the industry is doing, the Board should be out front shaping the direction the industry will take on a worldwide basis. He further feels that the Board should be influencers of government policies in related areas and have active programs with related EMA groups in Europe and Asia. Control Data has been a member of EMA for 8 years and its employees have been speakers/exhibitors at EMA conferences and special events. CDS was an integral part of the messaging, X.500 and recent security interoperability testing. Several Control Data mangers/key technologists have led various EMA committees. |

Intel Corporation: Mark Smith, Business Manager, Middleware |
| Mark Smith has been with Intel for 14 years,
holding positions in R&D, Marketing, and Corporate Strategy. Both Mr. Smith and Intel
have been active in the EMA and the messaging industry for many years. He currently
represents Intel as a member of the Executive Committee of the EMA Board of Directors. His
experience and leadership will continue to help guide the EMA in the coming years. Through innovative technologies, Intel is committed to improving the Internet/ Intranet and workgroup computing experience for business PC consumers. Todays corporations rely on close cooperation of the PC desktop and server industry, software vendors, providers of communications services, and standards bodies such as the EMA. Terri L. Brown, Senior Director, Strategic Alliances and Solutions |
| Terri Brown has been working in the fields of
voice and data communications for 14 years. Her experience in marketing, international
business development and strategy with Hewlett-Packard, Aspect Telecommunications and
Octel, coupled with her vision and enthusiasm for unified messaging, will make Ms. Brown
an outstanding member of the EMA Board. She holds a Bachelors degree from Stanford
University and an MBA from San Jose State University. Lucent Technologies and Octel Messaging Division have a long history of membership and volunteerism with EMA. Both have been active in the Voice Messaging Committee; Octel Messaging Division of Lucent Technologies (OMD) is a co-author of the VPIM specification developed by this committee. OMD is a pioneer in the field of unified messaging, which has the potential of revolutionizing the way people access and manage voicemail and e-mail communications. Through Ms. Browns leadership, Lucent will contribute to shaping the future of messaging and unified communications through the EMA. The OMD develops, markets and provisions voicemail systems and services. OMD is the world leader in voice messaging applications with more than 110 million voice mailboxes installed for businesses, governments, institutions, telephone companies and wireless service providers in more than 90 countries. |

The Boeing Company: Lisa M. Pratt, Messaging Specialist |
| Lisa Pratt has 17 years of experience in the Electronic
Communication industry and holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Chapman
University. She is a specialist at developing a messaging architecture, direction,
planning, and implementing messaging services for The Boeing Company. Currently, she is
focused on deploying a next generation client/ server messaging solution that will serve
80,000 users. She is active in the EMA work groups, EMA committees, IETF workgroups, and
currently serves on the EMA Board of Directors. Lisa brings a perspective that large end-user corporations need today as they deploy state of the art electronic communication technologies. She advocates that EMA can shape the electronic communication future by placing needs of the end user at the forefront of the evolution and working together with technology providers, policy makers, and standards bodies. |

U.S. Treasury Department:
Michèle Rubenstein, Messaging Program Director |
| Michèle Rubensteins contributions to
the Board and to EMA have included participation in and support of Board work, actions,
and committee activities. The Department of the Treasury is committed to and strongly
supports the work within EMA. To that effect, Ms. Rubenstein has been a Board member for
the past two years, and serves as Co-Chair of the Interoperability and EC Committee and as
Co-Chair of Challenge 99. Ms. Rubenstein feels it is extremely important to champion the needs and requirements of the user communities. Additionally, it is important to advocate to and work closely with the provider/vendor and consultant communities to achieve those needs and to make implementation of those requirements possible. As an employee of an extremely diverse user organization made up of 14 different business units, she also has the unique advantage of supporting both small and very large entities, each with unique requirements in messaging, EC, networking, directories, etc. |

Creative Networks, Inc.: Dr. Ronald M. Rassner, Vice President, Consulting |
| Ron Rassner is Vice President of Consulting at
Creative Networks. Dr. Rassners career experience is in the intranet and
collaborative computing environments, with emphases on cost/ value analysis, electronic
commerce and knowledge management. He is the past chairperson of the EMAs Emerging
Technologies and LAN Messaging Technologies Committees with oversight responsibility for
new and emerging technologies, and publications and work regarding host-LAN migration,
gateway testing, naming conventions, LAN storage policies and other message reliant
application initiatives. Mr. Rassner speaks frequently at industry events and contributes regularly to trade publications. Recent speaking engagements include EMA and EEMA (European Electronic Messaging Association), Internet Expo, GroupWare, ICE, INTEROP+NetWorld, UNIX EXPO, DECUS, PCEXPO and vendor-specific conferences. |

Exxon Corporation: Durwin Sharp, Global Technology Architect |
| Durwin Sharp has represented Exxon for the
past six years, and has recently served as a member of the Executive Committee of the
Board of Directors. He is active in the Government Affairs Committee, having represented
EMA in meetings with U.S. Congressional Staff, and in the Interoperability and EC
Committees, working toward interoperable infrastructure components including security and
directories. Mr. Sharp was a primary driver in bringing Thinking Expeditions to EMA to energize and enhance the productivity of committees and work groups. He continually looks to strengthen EMA in its unique combination of users, vendors, and consultants, and to broaden its influence through collaboration with other organizations and associations. Mr. Sharp has responsibility for Exxons electronic commerce architecture and direction, ensuring that Exxons infrastructure will continue to support business objectives into the future. He has been at Exxon seventeen years, with management responsibilities in application development and support, industry analysis, and operation of a worldwide computing network. Before joining Exxon, he was an independent consultant and a professor of management. Exxon has been an active participant in EMA for many years, supporting its role as the premier messaging industry forum for user/vendor cooperation on issues ranging from interoperability standards to government regulation. |

Lockheed Martin Corporation:
Catherine M. Forth, Director of Telecommunications |
| Catherine Forth is Director of
Telecommunications, in the Enterprise Information Systems Company at Lockheed Martin
Corporation. She is responsible for the voice, video and data communications
infrastructure and services for the Lockheed Martin. Ms. Forths responsibilities
include the integration and management of a diverse messaging environment and
consolidation of heritage e-mail systems accrued by the mergers of Lockheed, Martin
Marietta and Loral. A new integrated messaging system is being designed and deployed at
Lockheed Martin to enable over 100,000 users worldwide to effectively and reliably
exchange vital information. She has responsibility to assure cost effective, quality,
value-added business telecommunications and e-messaging services. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Forth obtained 15 years of progressive technical and managerial experience in the application of Information Technology to meet business needs at GEs Research & Development, GE Aerospace, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin. She has extensive skills in technical computing and infrastructure design, project planning and implementation, large scale systems management and design, team development and customer relations and business support in both local and geographically dispersed environments. Ms. Forth currently sits the on Lockheed Martin Information Architecture Board. |

Corporation: Eric E. Faunce, Director of Marketing |
| Eric Faunce is the Director of Marketing for
Document Management and Imaging Products, where he is responsible for overall marketing
messages in this product segment. Mr. Faunce joined Lotus Development in 1994 as a result
of the SoftSwitch acquisition, where he held a variety of positions in marketing,
field and development organizations. Prior to joining the Document Management and Imaging Products group, Mr. Faunce was Director of Worldwide Messaging Marketing, where he was a leader in worldwide product marketing of the Lotus Notes and Domino product lines as messaging solutions. Before joining Lotus, Mr. Faunce was Vice President, Communications, at the Electronic Messaging Association, responsible for marketing, com- munications, and committee activities. Mr. Faunce has more than 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and development of computer networking products and services. He speaks extensively at Industry events, and has published a number of papers and articles. Mr. Faunce holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Magna Cum Laude, from LaSalle University, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Villanova University. |

MCI WorldCom: Martha Hanlon, Director, Enterprise Access and Applications Marketing |
| Martha Hanlon is the current Chair on the EMA
Board of Directors, and has been in the telecommunications industry for 16 years, with
four years dedicated to developing and marketing Application services, including MCI
Exchange Messages Services, MCI Mail, EDI*Net, X.400 and mailhub services. She has created
the company strategy to pursue electronic commerce solutions for large businesses, and
supported the companys recent entries into electronic commerce for small businesses
and at-home consumers. Ms. Hanlon has an MBA in Marketing from The Wharton School. MCI is a founding member of EMA and a network industry leader in messaging and electronic communication services. It was one of the first in the industry to develop a public e-mail service, MCI Mail. Since that time, MCI has expanded its services as market needs have grown and changedManaged Exchange services, web-hosting, electronic commerce, X.400, LAN gateways, and Internet access, developed for consumer, business, and international users. |

Mpact Immedia, Inc.: Kathy Carlson, General Manager, Messaging and Electronic Commerce Services |
| Kathy Carlson is a General Manager-Market
Development in the business unit responsible for Electronic Business in Mpact Immedia. In
this role Kathy leads the team that is responsible for the market strategy and sales for
national (except Quebec) Business Internet and Electronic Commerce offerings from Bell.
Ms. Carlson has been involved in electronic business for the last 15 years holding several
positions, including Marketing, Product Management, Business Development, Services
Planning, Operations, and Sales Support. She has been actively involved in the EMA since
1988. Initially she participated on committees and then as a Board Director for 3 terms.
Ms. Carlson is actively involved in several industry associations and frequently speaks at
industry conferences and symposiums in Canada. Ms. Carlson will bring industry and
business experience to the Board and she is keenly interested in participating in the
transformation of EMA to better influence and meet the needs of this fast growing and
evolving industry. Ms. Carlson holds a B.A.Sc. from the University of Ottawa. |

The Burton Group: Gary Rowe, Principal |
| Gary Rowe has been actively involved with the
EMA for the past 9 years and was instrumental in founding, and subsequently serving as
Chair of the Directories Committee, one of EMAs most successful committees. Rowe has
also authored articles for EMAs Messaging Magazine, provided several EMA
educational seminars and delivered formal presentations at over 20 EMA conferences. He was
co-chair of EMAs 1998 Annual Conference Program Committee. At an industry level, Mr.
Rowe is widely considered to be a leading subject-matter expert and has authored or been
quoted in over 500 trade press articles. The Burton Group is an internationally recognized consultancy and publisher providing strategic planning, implementation direction and industry analysis for vendors and users of messaging, groupware, directory, intranet and electronic commerce-related products and services. |

The Radicati Group, Inc.: Sara Radicati, PhD, President and Chief Executive Officer |
| Sara Radicati was one of the leading designers
of the X.500 standards for directory services, and has been involved in the design,
planning and deployment of messaging and directory service systems for major
multi-national organizations for the past 19 years. Dr. Radicati chaired EMAs
Messaging Management Committee 1993-1997 and has been an active contributor to both EMA
and EEMA (European Electronic Messaging Association) activities. Dr. Radicati believes the messaging industry is poised for growth and renewal due to widespread acceptance of Internet technologies, increased consumer participation and growing corporate demand for robust and scalable systems. She feels EMA can play a leading role in shaping these industry transitions by broadening its scope to include a wider range of messaging and collaborative technologies, fostering greater user involvement, and increasing the exchange of ideas between vendors and users. Dr. Radicati is well known internationally for her text books on X.400 and X.500.
