Time waits for no one. Innovate or die. Only the paranoid survive. The pundits say the technology business is tough and unforgiving. So what about the technology association business? Since its creation in April 1983, EMA has flourished by staying close to its members, continuously seeking the leading edge and oftentimes looking beyond the horizon to anticipate the changes in electronic messaging, Internet services, security services such as secure e-mail and secure message-based transactions, fax, paging and the plethora of emerging solutions like instant messaging, two-way wireless paging and so forth. Our strength and laser-like focus comes from you through the volunteer network to the EMA Board of Directors.
So it is with a significant degree of pride that I tell you that EMA is continuing its commitment to you by once again "enlarging the pond" to incorporate the rapidly evolving world of electronic business. It's no secret that messaging technology enables much of what is widely known as e-business. It's also fair to say that messaging will continue to play a rapidly growing and expansive role in that future, albeit by many other names and descriptions. As always, EMA will be at the forefront, as your beacon to illuminate the issues, challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

At its meeting in December, the EMA Board of Directors adopted a new vision for the Association and revised EMA's mission statement in support of our collective future. In the days and weeks ahead, we'll be sharing not only the outcomes of that work, but a host of fresh opportunities and ideas to help you succeed in this challenging and changing world of messaging as it morphs into the future of e-business.
