Dan Bertrand
Chief Technologist for HP Applications Services & HP Fellow Office of the CTO, Hewlett-Packard Company

Dan Bertrand is chief technologist for HP Applications Services. In this role, his focus is to drive the technology strategy for Enterprise Services’ applications business and to ensure the service offerings and delivery capabilities appropriately address the implications of key business and technology trends. Bertrand is also an HP Fellows, a title awarded to the corporation’s most innovative thought leaders in recognition of their exceptional achievements.
Before accepting his current assignment, Bertrand served as the chief technology officer over the GM account, where he was responsible for leading the development of technical strategy and standards for the account globally. Before his role with this account, Bertrand also served as the lead strategist for the Enterprise Information Technology Strategy and Planning team. In this capacity, he helped to set and implement EDS’ corporate technology strategy.
Before joining EDS, Bertrand spent more than 10 years engineering control systems for high-volume machine tool systems. While in this industry, he held roles with increasing amounts of responsibility, such as control systems engineer, engineering manager and director of operations – Control Systems.
Bertrand currently is a member of the board of directors for The Open Group, a not-for-profit corporation focused on advancing open information technology standards. He has represented EDS at the National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, served on the executive committee of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) CIM Standards Board, and represented EDS as the liaison to MIT’s Computer Information Systems Research team.
Bertrand holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering technologies from Wayne State University and a master of business administration degree from the University of Detroit, where he achieved national recognition from the Beta Gamma Sigma honor society for scholastic achievement.
