Vision Statement
The release of the Digital Cinema Initiative's technical
specification in July of 2005 brought a new degree of
confidence to the digital cinema marketplace. As the efforts
of the Society for Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE)
DC28 Technology Committee for Digital Cinema continue to
advance, there is increasing awareness for an international
equipment certification effort to ensure the successful
deployment of digital cinema technology. The D-Cinema
Consortium is designed to fill this need.
The D-Cinema Consortium provides a fair and neutral
platform for defining and maintaining an international
equipment certification program for the digital cinema
exhibition equipment industry. By offering an opportunity for
suppliers, studios, and exhibitors to define and manage the
certification program, a responsive, collaborative exists in
which all stakeholders can participate. The D-Cinema
Consortium builds on the substantial work that already exists
in the digital cinema community, ensuring a streamlined
equipment certification effort that brings confidence to the
marketplace.
D-Cinema Consortium members span all sectors of the digital
cinema community. The flexible structure of membership in the
D-Cinema Consortium allows any organization, no matter what
its size, to join and have a voice in influencing the future
of digital cinema certification.
