X Applications on the Web - Deep Blau

Can you beat Deep Blau?

Deep Blau is a network-based imitation of IBM's Deep Blue Chess Playing Computer. Using GNU's gnuchess and xboard software and the X Consortium's release of X11R6.3 (Broadway) technology, Deep Blau demonstrates that any off-the-shelf software can be embedded into web browsers. (Gnuchess and xboard were not modified in any way for this demonstration.)

Pre-requisites:

An X11R6.3 (Broadway) X display (server).
An X11R6.3 (Broadway) Netscape plug-in
Reminder -- if your site has a firewall that blocks X protocol then this demo won't work unless you also use the X Firewall Proxy (xfwp) which is included in the X11R6.3 (Broadway) release.

Where to get an X11R6.3 display (server) and plug-in:

UNIX: At this point in time the X11R6.3 display (server) is only available if you build it from source. Please contact your system vendor for X11R6.3 availability on your platform. (Intel-based PCs and a few other platforms may be able to use the XFree86 3.2A distribution.)
MS-Windows: NetManage is shipping X11R6.3.
Macintosh: Please contact your vendor for X11R6.3 availability.
