You are here: Forums > Directory Interoperability Forum > Events > LDAP Plugfest, July 2001SummaryAt the Open Group LDAP Plugfest held in San Jose, CA, hosted by Novell, nine directory-enabled application vendors tested their products against eight LDAP server implementations. The server vendors present included all four that have The Open Brand for LDAP 2000. As a result of the plugfest, several of the applications were able to obtain Works With LDAP 2000 certification, while others added additional testing to their existing Works With LDAP 2000 certificates. Testing ArrangementsThe testing was arranged in two-hour slots. Each application vendor had a slot assigned for testing with each of the servers that it wished to test against. Each server had at most two applications testing against it in any one slot. Detailed results are confidential. Each participating companysigned a non-disclosure agreement. ResultsA number of new Works With LDAP 2000 Certificates were obtained as a result of the tests. In addition, additional testing was added to several existing certificates. The complete list of products that are certified are listed in the Works With LDAP 2000 Certified Products Registry. Future EventsIt was generally felt that the Plugfest had been valuable, and should be repeated, once or twice per year. Plugfests are different from DirConnects, and can not replace them. DirConnects are more oriented towards servers than applications, and are for debugging implementations that are still in development. Plugfests are oriented towards applications, and are for testing finished products. There may be a need for future DirConnects in addition to the Plugfests.
