Meeting Highlights

The Directory Interoperability Forum met on October 24 and 25 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, as part of The Open Group conference.

  • The DIF made plans for the future of The Open Brand for LDAP 2000 in the short, medium and long term.
  • The DIF White Paper: Standardization Priorities for the Directory was approved.
  • The DIF E-Business Requirements Working Group made progress on E-Business Requirements for Directory.
  • The Mobile and Directory Business Scenario The Executive on the Move was presented in draft to members of the DIF, the MMF, the Security Forum, and the QoS Task Force. Valuable input was received, which will be incorporated in the final version of the scenario.
  • The KMI Directory Guidelines work was re-focussed to produce PKI Directory Guidelines. A start has been made, but much remains to be done.
  • A Global Directory Forum meeting was held by teleconference with EEMA, which was meeting simultaneously in Nice, France.
  • Plans were made for the next meeting, which will include a topical open session on Identity Management. It is hoped to hold a Plugfest and perhaps also a seminar in conjunction with the meeting.
