DirecNet™: Vision

The DirecNet™ Task Force will standardize directional, IP-enabled, highly-mobile, ad hoc mesh networks through a validated, open specification.

Vision

The DirecNet™ Task Force was formed to meet the ever-increasing need for a more robust, high-bandwidth and interoperable communications infrastructure to support DoD operational needs. Reliable and flexible communications are key to supporting evolving warfighter missions.

The Open Group DirecNet™ Task Force enables industry government collaboration on a mobile military network standard in a trusted environment, using proven processes and governance. This ensures an optimal match between customer needs, capability gaps and technology innovation.

The DirecNet™ Task Force will develop an open standard for a high-capacity, RF communication networking waveform that is highly mobile, directional and ad hoc. The open standard will incorporate non-proprietary technologies to enable affordable and flexible communications to meet Department of Defense and other government net-centric needs. A robust certification approach will be central to providing vendor-to-vendor and joint forces interoperability, while reducing overall life-cycle cost.
