Elaine Babcock
Chief, Standards Integration (GE3), DISA

Elaine Babcock is Chief of Standards Integration for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), U.S. Department of Defense. DISA plans, develops, fields, and supports command, control, communications and information systems that serve the needs of the President and the Military under all conditions of peace and war. She provides standards engineering, management, requirements, analysis, and assessments services to DISA’s major programs including Net Centric Enterprise Services and Global Information Grid Bandwidth Expansion. Elaine also manages DISA’s memberships and representatives to all non-governmental standards organizations.

Ben Calloni
Senior Specialist, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company

Dr. Ben Calloni is a senior researcher in Lockheed Martin Aeronautics company. His focus is the use of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Open Standards products suitable for Department of Defense (DoD) systems, particularly in the area of Avionics. Standards based, validated products in the area of safety (FAA) and security (NSA/NIAP) are key to the cost effective development of these platforms. Interoperability standards also provide flexibility in terms of mitigating proprietary solutions on systems with 30-year life spans.

Ben has been active in The Open Group's Real-Time Forum for several years, more recently working on Multi-level Security. He is also active in the Object Management Group (OMG), chairing the Real Time and Embedded Task Force and serving on their Board of Directors. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Software Engineering.

Alan Doniger
Chief Technology Officer, POSC

Alan Doniger is Chief Technology Officer for Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium, Inc. (POSC), a not-for-profit, membership corporation to establish industry standards for data exchange, reference data, knowledge-information-data taxonomies and catalogues, application interoperability, and data management in the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector of the Oil and Gas industry. Alan joined POSC in its first year of operation, 1991.

In his current role, Alan is actively involved in the planning and execution of POSC work in the areas of standards development and support, special interest groups, marketing, and communications. He led the development of specifications to support application interoperability using distributed object technology and business objects. He maintains liaison with industry collaborative and standards organizations, including ISO, OMG, The Open Group, POSC Caesar, PIEBASE, PIDX, and PPDM Association.

Prior to joining POSC, Mr. Doniger was engaged by Gulf and Chevron for ten years. During his tenure, he was responsible for managing a software standards, methodology, and tools group. In addition, he was responsible for leading the development of a multi-disciplinary, integrated E&P data and functional model.

For the previous ten years, Mr. Doniger held consulting, management, and technical positions at Computer Sciences Corporation involving the communications, insurance, banking, manufacturing, and oil industries. He specialized in data base systems and software development methodology.

Mr. Doniger holds an MS degree in Computer Science and an AB degree in Mathematics from Cornell University. He is a member of the ACM, the IEEE Computer Society, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.

Mr. Doniger has served The Open Group's customer community on the Customer Council/Forum Steering Committee since 1996, serving as Director on the Governing Board since 1998, and as Chair of the Governing Board since 2004.
