Supplier-Member Candidates:
Personal Election
Statements
For the single Governing Board seat for a Supplier-Member-representative,
we have five nominations. Therefore we must hold an election in which
the official primary or alternate contact in each Supplier-Member organization
is invited to vote for one of the five candidates. Members should work
with their official member-contact to influence who their organization
votes
for.
The following Personal Election Statements, and short biographies, have
been provided by the candidates to help members decide.
Steve Blackman
Senior Director of Business Development, Aerospace & Defense, Wind
River Systems
To effectively serve on the Board of The Open Group requires domain
expertise in the industry, understanding of technology, and a business
sense to help move the community forward in an effective manner. Being
an active member of The Open Group, AFCEA, and AIA provides me with an
understanding of the industry's needs and demonstrates my commitment
to supporting the community. With over 20 years of relevant industry
and technology experience (I am responsible for Wind River's product
strategy, business development, partnerships, technology innovation and
vision for Wind River's aerospace
and defense efforts) I understand the business and technology demands
we face. My commitment is to work openly with all members of The Open
Group towards furthering our common goals.
Short biography
Bob Fabbio
Chairman and CEO, VIEO Inc.
Now in my seventh start-up, I am as passionate about our industry and
my work as ever.
I commit to bring energy, creativity, leadership, and integrity to
the important work of The Open Group as a Governing Board member. The
same
attributes that I brought with my participation in POSIX, the OSF and
UNIX International that helped shape today's distributed systems management
standards and more recently, with the IBTA to enable next-generation
computing. I remain an advocate of standards that accelerate technology
adoption and provide more choice for its consumers. I respectfully
ask for your support and look forward to working with you in years to
come.
Short biography
Chris Greenslade
Executive Director and Chairman of the Board, Architecting the Enterprise
The Supplier Council has not met for some time. My priority will be
to revitalize it and to re-establish its Charter (see http://www.opengroup.org/supplier_council/charter.htm).
It should enable Supplier Members to maximize the value of their membership
by acting as a platform for the exchange of information between Suppliers,
between Forums and with the Customer Council.
Within the Governing Board,
I will use my considerable experience and knowledge of The Open Group
and its membership (see my biography) to represent to the Board the
interests of global members of all sizes and to champion the initiatives
and goals
of the Supplier Council.
Short biography
David Kleidermacher
Vice President of Engineering, Green Hills Software
My professional responsibilities include the incorporation of open standards
into products, such as ISO compilers and security and POSIX operating
systems. I participate in The Open Group's RT-ES Forum. Under my leadership,
INTEGRITY was one of the first operating systems to begin conformance
testing for The Open Group's POSIX.1-2001 test suite. I have always reserved
participation in industry groups to endeavors that match my experience
and philosophies and are effective at implementing their mission. The
Open Group meets these criteria; I can and will put forth the time and
energy that this position deserves.
Short biography
Inder Singh
CEO & President, LynuxWorks
I have long been a strong proponent of open standards, both de jure
and de facto. LynuxWorks bases its business strategy on open standards
such as UNIX®, POSIX and Linux, and we pioneered implementation of
the POSIX real-time extensions. My personal involvement with standardization
activity includes embedded Linux (ELCPS), IEEE POSIX 1003.x and IEEE
802.3 LAN standards. Excelan, which I founded in the 80's, was the first to provide Ethernet LAN adapters with an integrated
TCP/IP stack. This enabled LAN connectivity for UNIX and Windows computers
long before either standard UNIX or Windows had integrated TCP/IP or
LAN support.
