Using the ArchiMate language from the Open Group, roadmaps can be communicated in a standard and repeatable manner with business and IT stakeholders. By extending the functionality both of ArchiMate and TOGAF 9, we are able to show how the inclusion of milestones, lifecycles, pie chart status, heatmapping, and export to Excel, Powerpoint and other visualisation aids, ensures that stakeholders have a good grasp of their current and future architecture states and alerts them to functional gaps, budget over-runs and redundancy. | 11.15 - 12.00 | Effective Business Architecture - Connecting Innovation, Strategy & Implementation Sven van Dijk, BiZZdesignEffective Business Architecture - Connecting Innovation, Strategy & ImplementationSven van Dijk, BiZZdesign, Canada Organizations need to continuously adapt to changes in order to maintain business success. This change can only be achieved if approached in a structured and coordinated way. Best practices and standards are available that help to innovate and design the organization. The challenge is to establish and maintain alignment between the various layers: strategy planning, enterprise architecture, and implementation design. Each layer defines the requirements and constraints for the level below. But most methods focus on a single layer, since the required guidance and model support are different on each of the levels. For example, on the strategic level key factors of a strategic proposition need to be captured, whereas on the level of implementation detailed models are required. This presentation will not only explore state-of-the-art methods and standards for effective business architecture practices on the various levels, but it will also show how methods and models can be connected. In this way, the results achieved at one layer kick start the work on the next level. Structured methods that are connected give organizations a powerful way to govern the implementation of strategy, as well as more agility to respond to changing circumstances. Key takeaways: -- Overview of standards on different levels of business architecture, more specifically the Business Model Canvas™, TOGAF®, ArchiMate®, and BPM. Sven van Dijk is a consultant and trainer for BiZZdesign North America and is well versed in working with methods and tools for BPM & EA in various project contexts and speaks regularly at conferences and symposiums on EA & BPM around the world. An experienced, hands-on business consultant combining business skills with a strong technical background, and his extensive knowledge on structured methods and tools for enterprise architecture and business process management. His ability and experience working in various consultancy roles (specialist, process manager, project leader) and in various types of projects (IT implementation, Impact-of-Change analysis and Change Management) are of great benefit to our clients. |
