All members of The Open Group are entitled to participate in selected work areas in which The Open Group works with suppliers, consortia and standards bodies to develop consensus and facilitate interoperability, to evolve and integrate open specifications and open source technologies. Members may either select one of the membership packages, or any 4 of the individual work areas (see Membership)

A few work areas also invite more general participation at public levels.

Birds of a Feather Groups

Birds of a Feather Groups (BOFs) are short lived groups established to examine potential new work areas. BOFs are open to all members of The Open Group
