Software License Use Management - XSLM

The Open Group has published a Technical Standard for Software License Use Management (XSLM). The standard defines a centralized software license use management system.

Escalating software costs, the high administrative burden of license compliance control, the lack of effective customer control over their employees' use of licensed software, and asset protection, are all key business issues which led to the creation of this customer-driven project.

XSLM now provides an interoperable solution for monitoring the use of licensed software products in a business.

The XSLM Specification was originally developed in collaboration with members of GUIDE. It is now continuing development and promotion activities within the SHARE organization who continue to collaborate with The Open Group.
