When this logo is used on, or in relation to, a product registered as conformant to this Product Standard, it must be accompanied by an attribution, in the form defined in the S/MIME Secure Messaging Certification Agreement, which includes the S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard name.

DESCRIPTION

The S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard is for professional services offered in support of deployment of secure e-mail systems in accordance with The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture, to ensure that organizations offering such services abide by an approved Code of Practice, and use properly trained professions to lead such services. It defines the nature of professional services that may be offered in association with The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture. In so doing, it references a Code of Practice to which service providers must adhere.

CONFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

In order to submit an application for certification to the S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard, the applicant must:

• Agree to abide by the S/MIME Secure Messaging Code of Practice
• Commit to the use of S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED practitioners in provision of professional services registered to the S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard.
• Have a training policy for its S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED practitioners
• Maintain a register with The Open Group of the names of all personnel currently providing the S/MIME Secure Messaging professional services.

OVERRIDING STANDARDS

 INDICATORS OF COMPLIANCE

The Indicators of Compliance for this Product Standard shall be:

• A commitment that the applicant:
  • Agrees to abide by the S/MIME Secure Messaging Code of Practice
  • Commits to use at least one practitioner listed on the Certification Register for the S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED Product Standard in provision of professional services registered to the S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard
  • Agrees to maintain a current register with The Open Group of the names of all personnel providing the S/MIME Secure Messaging professional services
  • Commits to have a training policy in respect of its practitioners who provide the professional services registered to the S/MIME Secure Messaging SERVICES Product Standard

MIGRATION

As this is the first version of this Product Standard, there are no migration issues.

CODE OF PRACTICE

Objective

To ensure that S/MIME Secure Messaging Professional Service Providers’ offerings are delivered in a consistent and professional manner, in support of The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture.

Code of Conduct

The S/MIME Secure Messaging Professional Service Provider agrees to abide by the following guidelines:

1. Adherence to The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture: Provide services in deployment of secure e-mail systems in accordance with The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture. However, Service Providers may provide additional services as appropriate and necessary, to complete their specific service offerings to meet their customers’ needs.
    
2. Acknowledgement of Intellectual Property: Acknowledge the use of the intellectual property of The Open Group S/MIME Secure Messaging Architecture in all project documentations and presentations, wherever S/MIME Secure Messaging is used or referred to in the process of promoting and delivering professional services.
    
3. Deployment of S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED Practitioners: Commit to deploy the services of S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED  practitioners, whether utilising permanent employees or contractors or sub contracting organisations, for delivery of S/MIME Secure Messaging Professional Services. At least 1 certified practitioner must be present in any team delivering S/MIME Secure Messaging professional services.
    
4. Continuous skills upgrade: Agree to maintain a register of permanent employees who are S/MIME Secure Messaging CERTIFIED practitioners, complemented by a training schedule to continuously upgrade their skills consistent with the current definitions of The Open Group Secure Messaging Architecture.
    
5. Project Register: Maintain an up-to-date project register of S/MIME Secure Messaging based projects undertaken by the organization. (This register may be kept internal, if required for confidentiality reasons.)
