The Open Group

The Eastwood Test Suite Family

Data Sheet

Updated April 1998

The Open Group has introduced a new family of test suites in support of the Single UNIX® Specification, Version 2 and the UNIX 98 brand program. This is an opportunity for the Open Group and leading vendors to work together NOW to build on the momentum of UNIX 95. This reinforces the UNIX trade mark as the industry recognized mark for the leading-edge operating environment.

1. Introduction

Building on the success of the X/Open Verification Program, The Open Group is the premier open systems test supplier. Successful X/Open Branding programs include XPG4, CDE, Security and the Single UNIX Specification. The Open Group portfolio of open systems test suites includes tests for POSIX.1, POSIX.2, XPG4, UNIX, CDE, CORBA, XNFS, XTI, Sockets, X11 and Motif. Open Group test tools are essential for proper development and maintenance of standards-based products, ensuring conformance of products to industry-standard APIs, application portability and interoperability. In-depth testing identifies defects at the earliest possible point in the development cycle, saving costs in development and quality assurance. The real benefit of The Open group test tools to suppliers is accelerated time-to-market of branded product.

If your organization is developing an implementation for any of the new features in UNIX 98, then the Eastwood test suites offer significant value in terms of test coverage and cost reductions and are recommended for in-house quality-assurance as well as part of your brand registration campaign.
