And there it finished for the season!
When I was assembling the bottom end with the new cam drive gears I discovered a small amount of play in the big end. I pondered long and hard, as it was only a tiny bit of play and surely it would last for another meeting, but sense won out.
I took it in to Tony Brancato for him to strip (the Ducati big end is a pressed up roller affair and a substantial press is required to dismantle it) and we found slight visible wear on the top surface of the big end pin when it's at bottom dead centre.
We both concluded that it probably would have lasted the rest of the season, but once it's apart the right thing to do is to fix it. So there it is, waiting for Tony to machine a new crank pin and a liner for the Carillo rod
