The date rollover problem is not specific to UNIX systems, it applies equally to other operating systems where times are represented in this way, and is really an issue of the width of the time_t datatype (which has often been defined as a signed 32-bit quantity ). There are 64-bit UNIX systems in the field which use a larger representation for time_t that are able to represent times up to the year 10000 (the limitation being the C standard). Action: Change "GPS and UNIX rollover" to "date rollover". Change the footnote from "These systems..." to "Date rollover can occur on systems...." @ 2.5 o 2 The Open Group Objection Julian Calendar Section 2.5 Page 9 Line 320 Problem: the sentence does not make sense Action: Add after "46 BC" , ", the Julian Calendar " @ 5.16 o 3 The Open Group Objection a state DMV Section 5.16.2 Page 82 Line 2456 Problem: Whilst the phrase "a state DMV" may mean something within the North America, its use is very colloquial even with the explanation in parentheses after it. As such it does not aid the understanding of this section. Change: "a state DMV (Department of Motor Vehicles)" to "a motor vehicle registration office"
