Title: Company Review Announcement: The Open Group Standard, X/Open Curses Issue 8
Version: None

Dear Members of The Open Group,

I hereby announce the Company Review for the following document

The Open Group Standard, X/Open Curses Issue 8

with The Open Group Platform Forum as the sponsor of the review.

This Review will commence on May 8th and will close May 22nd, 2024.

The document will be made available prior to the review opening and a subsequent email will provide details.

This standard defines the X/Open Curses interface offered to application programs by X/Open Curses-conformant systems. It is being updated to align with The Open Group Base Specifications, Issue 8.

The changes in Issue 8 are minor: functionality marked obsolescent in
Issue 7 (the tparm() interface) is removed, and some text in chapter 2
that was taken from the Base Specifications XSH volume is updated to
align with changes between XSH7 and XSH8; no new features are introduced.
As the changes are minor, a review period of two weeks has been defined for this document.

The link to the review materials (when available) and details of how to participate in the review are available on The Open Group Company Review page, see https://www.opengroup.org/company-reviews

For the benefit of those unfamiliar with The Open Group Standards Process, a Company Review is a formal process by which The Open Group measures consensus around a document to become a standard or a formal certification document.

You are invited to review and submit proposed changes ("Change Requests - CRs") that would make the document acceptable to you.  Any individual from any member organization is welcome to submit comments on behalf of their organization.  The sponsor is responsible for the creation of proposed resolutions for the Change Requests (CRs).  A formal ballot is distributed to the ballot group to vote on the acceptance/disposition of the proposed resolutions requests.  For further details see https://www.opengroup.org/standardsprocess.

Please direct any questions related to this company review to me directly at a.josey@opengroup.org.
