Attendees of a major government conference on Open Source this week will receive a key briefing from The Open Group on the current standards status of the Linux operating system. The conference on 'Open Standards/Open Source for National and Local eGovernment Programs in the U.S. and EU' is being held in Washington, DC, USA, March. 17 - 19, 2003. At the session Graham Bird, Vice-President Marketing, will review the latest open system standards, and how the Linux operating system is shaping up to them. Topics to be covered include the Linux Standard Base Specifications, LSB Certification, the revised POSIX standard (ISO/IEC 9945:2002), and the new Single UNIX Specification Version 3; standards that lie at the heart of the Linux operating system. The session will emphasize the benefits of standards and how their presence is a key enabler to the success of the Linux operating system.
