The Open Group Announces Terry Blevins as Customer Council Governing Board Representative
Leader from The MITRE Corporation Elected to Ensure “Customer” Perspective is Central to Organization’s Future Agenda

SAN FRANCISCO, April 7, 2009 – The Open Group, a vendor- and technology-neutral consortium focused on open standards and global interoperability within and between enterprises, today announced the appointment of Terence (Terry) Blevins to its Governing Board. Mr. Blevins, department head at MITRE in the Warfighter Analysis and Architecture Department, has been elected to serve as a Customer Council Representative to the Board for a three-year term starting March 1, 2009. Mr. Blevins will join Alan Doniger, CTO, Energistics and Ben Calloni, senior specialist, Lockheed Martin in championing the collective interests of customer members on The Open Group’s Governing Board.

As a Customer Council Representative, Mr. Blevins will be responsible for articulating the needs of The Open Group’s customer members in order to best leverage the guidelines, standards and tools developed by the organization’s various forums and work groups.  The Open Group Customer Council designates members who are primary buyers and end-users of information systems to be ‘customers’ and provides them with a platform to represent that customer perspective to the Board, The Open Group as a whole and other customer members.

“Considering Terry’s extensive experience in the enterprise architecture discipline and longstanding contributions to The Open Group, we are very pleased to have him be a Customer Council Representative to the Governing Board,” said Allen Brown, CEO for The Open Group. “Terry has been actively involved with our organization since 1996. He co-chaired the Architecture Forum, contributed content to the development of TOGAF™, and most recently served as chair of the Certification Standing Committee.  In this new role, Terry’s experience and opinion will continue to be of great value to The Open Group and our customer organizations.”

The Open Group’s Governing Board is comprised of representatives from Platinum Member organizations, the Customer and Supplier Councils, the president and CEO of The Open Group, and the corporate secretary. All Governing Board members share control and responsibility for The Open Group’s overall strategic direction, governance and leadership. The Customer Council has three seats on the Board of Directors, helping to ensure the customer viewpoint is well represented in The Open Group.
