The Open Group Conference Seattle 2010 to Examine Future of Business Architecture, IT Security and Enterprise Cloud Computing
Hundreds of architecture, IT and security experts to convene at Grand Hyatt Seattle from February 1 – 5, 2010

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 16, 2009 The Open Group Conference Seattle 2010 will be held on February 1 - 5, 2010 at the Grand Hyatt Seattle. The conference features three key themes: orienting the language of enterprise architecture to business needs; moving information security management from science to art; and examining whether cloud computing is the solution to enterprise concerns. The Open Group will also host CloudCamp Seattle on Wednesday, February 3.

“The Open Group envisions a future where the enterprise architect is engaged and guiding decision-making conversations at the ‘board room’ level,” said Allen Brown, president and CEO, The Open Group. “Our Seattle conference aims to get a head start on making this future a reality with three full days of evocative keynotes, expert-led practical sessions, and in-depth case studies. Attendees will be able to choose from literally dozens of great sessions across three main conference tracks that examine the evolution of business architecture, information security management, and cloud computing.”

Architecture: The Enterprise Architecture Practitioners Conference, being held on February 1 – 3, represents an ideal opportunity to better understand the future role of enterprise architecture (EA) as it is more closely aligned with business decision making at a ‘board room’ level. Keynote presentations, in-depth case studies and interactive panel discussions will better prepare all EA professionals for the evolving nature of the role of architecture design and management. Confirmed speakers include Henry Peyret, principal analyst, Forrester Research; Michael Rollins, research director, Burton Group; Senaka Ariyasinghe, lead enterprise architect, Cisco; David Houlding, healthcare enterprise architect, Intel; and Andy Ruth, vice president, education, International Association of Software Architects.

Security: The security practitioner needs to evolve information security management from an art to a science. The Security Practitioners Conference, being held on February 2 – 3, will provide guidelines on how to integrate security within the enterprise; communicate risk effectively across their organization; and architect security into IT systems. Confirmed speakers include Adam Shostack, senior program manager, Microsoft; Jeremy Hilton, lecturer, University of Cardiff; and Jim Reavis, co-founder and acting executive director, Cloud Security Alliance.

Cloud Computing: No longer just in the ‘Blue Sky’, the Cloud is being accepted as a key element for enterprise-wide IT systems evolution. The Cloud Computing track, being held on February 3, will include sessions that shed light on requirements, challenges, use cases and opportunities for the enterprise deployment of cloud computing. Following the day’s cloud-themed sessions, The Open Group will host a CloudCamp, where attendees can exchange ideas, knowledge and information in a casual manner to advance the current state of cloud computing. Confirmed speakers include Peter Coffee, director, platform research, Salesforce.com; and Dennis Hurst, senior security engineer, HP.
