Version: 3 ( 2 / 1) (show all versions) (see latest)
Sticky: No
Description:

This agenda shows the Semantic Interoperability activities taking place at The Open Group Architecture Practitioners Conference in San Diego.

Focus

The focus of the activities is on delivering value to Semantic Interoperability Working Group members and the wider enterprise IT architecture community by:

  • Presenting and discussing current and emerging trends in Semantic Interoperability in the conference sessions; and
  • Producing and promoting deliverables that will benefit the enterprise architecture community in the Working Group meetings.

Conference Sessions

The conference sessions are open to all conference attendees. They include:

  • A presentation by Eric Samson, Chief Technology Officer, Data Services, DataDirect Technologies on Designing a Data Access Standard in SOA, WOA, and Cloud Computing Context.
  • A presentation by Nikhil Kumar and colleagues from ApTSi on Information Architecture and Actionable Enterprise Architecture.

Semantic Interoperability Working Group Meetings

The Semantic Interoperability Working Group meetings are open to Semantic Interoperability Working Group members and invited guests. (If you are a member of the UDEF Interested Parties group, please ask for an invitation!) They include discussions on:

  • Data and semantic technology architectures for SOA; and

11:00- 15:30 Data and Semantic Technology Architectures for SOA

This is a joint meeting of the SOA and Semantic Interoperability Working Groups.

The previous, highly-successful joint meeting in Glasgow on Information Architecture for SOA established the need to address information in the Business Architecture phase of TOGAF, and suggested how this should be done. This meeting will build on those conclusions to consider the impact on TOGAF's Information Systems Architectures and Technology Architecture phases. It will include discussion of:

  • How the information component of the business architecture relates to the data architecture of the information systems;
  • How semantic technology can support the development of the data architecture;
  • How semantic technology can support the development of the applications architecture (which, in the context of SOA, is a services architecture), and the subsequent implementation of the applications and services;
  • Potential reference models; and
  • The impact on governance.
Friday February 5, 2009
09:00- 12:30 The Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF)

This meeting will be available for remote participation by members of the UDEF Project and Interested Parties Group. See its calling notice and agenda.
