The project team has delivered a basic definition of SOA.

Contribution to the Mission

In order to promote better understanding and to give the IT industry an opportunity to make progress, it is important to come to a single, generally agreed definition of SOA. This project is responsible for developing that definition and promoting it through the SOA Working Group to the rest of The Open Group and the Industry in general. This will help both business and technical people to gain a better understanding of SOA concepts.

The project team reviewed a number of existing definitions for SOA and services and the emerging OASIS SOA Reference Model.
