Title: Information Architecture Reference Models
Version: (None)
Description:

Within the Information Architecture stream at The Open Group Conference in Austin, I gave the Information Architecture Reference Models presentation that you can obtain from the following link http://www.opengroup.org/projects/udef/

The purpose of the presentation was to recommend that The Open Group consider the notion of an Information Architecture Reference Model within the following: the Semantic Interoperability Working Group, the SOA Working Group, and the Architecture Forum. An example reference model is the 7 layer OSI reference model which identifies functions that are performed at each layer. The two Information Architecture Reference Model options within the presentation were developed by the GEIA Homeland Security and Defense Information Interoperability Committee. The two options are submitted for Open Group's review and comment and if applicable adoption either as is or as modified.

Based on feedback from those who heard the presentation as well as those who subsequently reviewed the presentation, there was general agreement that the notion of an Information Architecture Reference Model within an Enterprise Architecture and SOA is a good idea.
