SOA Work Group

Objective of Meeting

The SOA Work Group exists to develop and foster common understanding of SOA in order to facilitate alignment between the business and IT communities. The purpose of this meeting was to progress its work on a new version of its SOA Reference Architecture, and to discuss the formation of a new project to create a certification program for SOA professionals.

Summary

The meeting reviewed a draft charter for the proposed certification project, and a draft of the new version of the SOA Reference Architecture.

Outputs

The meeting produced updated drafts of the certification project charter and the SOA Reference Architecture.

Next Steps

The SOA Work Group will vote on the draft certification project charter and, if it is approved, the project will start.

Work will continue on the SOA Reference Architecture. The Open Group is liaising with ISO/IEC JTC1 SC38 (DAPS) and with IEEE Project P1723, both of which bodies are developing SOA reference architectures. The results of the meeting will be input to those bodies, as well as being the basis for further work within The Open Group.
