Distributed Transaction Processing: Reference Model, Version 3

This document provides a functional description of the Distributed Transaction Processing (DTP) model, a software architecture that allows multiple application programs to share resources provided by multiple Resource Managers, and allows their work to be coordinated intoglobal transactions. It describes the use of the DTP model within the Common Applications Environment (CAE) and is a prerequisite to other Open Group documents that address DTP. This document has been updated to take account of CPI-C, Version 2 (C419) and the introduction of the X/Open High-level Transaction Language (HTL) (see Structured Transaction Definition Language (STDL), C611).
