About the QLM Work Group

Quantum Lifecycle Management (QLM) standards are necessary to support the natural progression and extension of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Their scope greatly exceeds product lifecycle management, exploiting common information exchange technologies to embrace other lifecycles including healthcare, supply chain and logistics, food, beverage, pharmaceutical pedigree and traceability, among many others. The quantum leap implied in the name is relevant because of the effect of harnessing the technologies and direction of the “Internet of Things”, embracing the trillions of additional entities that will be introduced to the challenge of lifecycle management. The QLM Work Group provides the forum to develop and consolidate the open standards necessary to address these advances.

Contribution to standards was a major objective of the EU PROMISE project and a number of former project partners are determined to further the development and acceptance of the initial architecture and interfaces developed during the project in collaboration with other similarly motivated organizations.

The key objective of this group is to build on the PROMISE project achievements by further establishing and promoting relevant standardization activities. To accomplish this objective, we are forming the QLM Work Group under the auspices of The Open Group (www.opengroup.org), an international vendor-neutral and technology-neutral consortium, to bring vendors and consumers together to continue the collaboration of the previous project and build on the prior achievements in the creation and promotion of open standards. We are currently seeking members to contribute to this work group.
