Subject: RTES Forum Scheduled Web Conference
Hello RTES Forum Members,
The Open Group's Real-Time and Embedded Systems Forum (RTES Forum)
will be hosting a web conference for all Forum members on Wednesday,
September 30th so reserve the date!
The web conference will be a half-day session highlighting two of the
RTES Forum's major deliverables:
1) A "Pocket Guide to Open Systems Architecture", a project
spearheaded by Edwin Lee, of Raytheon and Glen Logan of AMERICAN
SYSTEMS. Edwin will present an overview of the work, which is
intended to be an executive level guide for Government and Industry
that describes the taxonomy, principals, terminology, and current
initiatives related to the open systems architecture landscape. The
presentation will be followed by a facilitated discussion for
participants to provide feedback or additional information that
could/should be included in the Guide. We intend to distribute a
DRAFT Version a week prior to the web conference so that participants
can come prepared for discussion.
2) A "Strategy for Extending The Open Group Architecture Framework
(TOGAF)", is intended to provide an end-to-end approach to extend
enterprise architecture concepts and practices to the platform and
real-time and embedded systems environments. Ed Roberts, from
Elparazim, will present some of the challenges as well as proposed
next steps for moving that effort forward. Ed's presentation will be
followed by discussion and feedback on the strategy and the next
steps, with the objective of arriving at a set of milestones and a
timeline for execution.
There will also be a status update on other RTES Forum work and
upcoming meetings and a discussion of objectives for 2010 from Joe
Bergmann, Glen Logan, and Sally Long.
Please join us for this web conference for a fresh look at what is
currently happening in the RTES Forum and for a chance to participate
in shaping the objectives for the future!
Feel free to invite other colleagues in your organization who may
also be interested in this work.
