Common Event Reporting - standard

The Open Group's Security Forum has maintained the X/OPEN Distributed Audit Standard with few changes since 1997. In the succeeding decade security and regulatory compliance trends have made security event standards ever more critical, but no existing standard has achieved even moderate levels of adoption, and enterprises still have to deal with a morass of proprietary logs, messages, and events. In this session we will discuss the current efforts to create revision 2 of the standard to meet modern needs, along with efforts to align this standard with other emerging standards such as MITRE's CEE to help ensure broad adoption.
