Welcome to the ALPINE Project ...

Active Loss Prevention is a multi-disciplinary approach to managing risk and establishing secure e-Business transactions based on paradigms already well-established to protect other business activities and investments. Business assets such as office buildings are routinely protected from fire worldwide - using codes of practice, technology, standards, tests, and laws to reduce the risk of fire, reduce its spread, and minimize damage when it does occur. These well-established techniques for protecting investments can be applied to e-Business through a collaborative approach amongst the key professional disciplines of legal, audit, insurance, accounting, commercial, technology, and regulation.

This collaborative approach is why the ALPINE Project was established. It is now in its closing stages, awaiting review by the appointed European Commission assessors of the final project deliverables.

The ALPINE Project

The ALPINE (Active Loss Prevention for ICT eNabled Enterprise) project received financial support from the European Commission.

The ALPINE project partners (see link in left column) have completed a 7 project deliverables, of which 5 were developed in Special Interest Groups led by a designated partner, and 2 were additional deliverables from The Open Group:

Involvement/Participation

The ALPINE Working Group has brought together professionals from the various disciplines responsible for protecting e-Business investments and supporting e-Business transactions. Participation has been open to subject matter experts from across Europe, without fees, but requiring each participant to first register as an ALPINE Participant, for audit purposes. All of the activities of the ALPINE Special Interest Groups have involved appropriate other industry bodies to ensure we arrived at harmonised approaches and results which are accepted by enterprise businesses and government.
