Open Group Security Standards/Guides

Firewalls

The computer industry is well-served by a multitude of firewall products, many of which are well-established. The Open Group has highlighted areas where further development of common technology will bring added value to the marketplace. A firewall project was started in 1998, focused on the need for firewalls for:

• laptops on the move
• tele-commuting
• schools/small colleges
• general firewall for any lightweight client

This work was halted in 1999, switching from active work within the Security Forum, to monitoring activities of other focussed interest groups.
