Smart Cards

A Smart Card can store credentials and cryptographic keys, perform encryption/decryption operations, and be used for encryption/decryption. Its power as a tamper-proof personal token for authentication makes it very attractive to a whole range of computer applications.

The Security Forum maintains a watching brief on Smart Card developments because of their significance to Common Data Security Architecture (CDSA) and Single sign-on (SSO), and has also completed useful work in the Virtual Smart-Card (VSC) area.

A useful source for information on current Smart Card technology and interest groups is here.

Send email to our SmartCard discussion list.
