The Key Ingredients to Successful Enterprise Architecture

What should all successful Enterprise Architects have in common? The right skills, the right experience, the right standards and the right style for architectures. The 17th Enterprise Architecture Practitioners Conference in San Francisco will feature a morning plenary session on each day followed by afternoon tracks and sessions where you’ll hear what best practices, standards, tools and technologies are being used to develop today’s most successful enterprise architectures.

Each day will include a mix of end-user case studies, testimonials and panel discussions examining one of the following focus areas:

MONDAY, JAN. 28: Leveraging the SOA of Enterprise Architecture
Finally living up to its hype, this style of architecture has emerged as a viable way to help organizations meet their business goals and provide IT agility.  The first day of this conference will cover the business dimensions of SOA, and examine it within the context of the broader enterprise architecture eco-system.

TUESDAY, JAN. 29: The Value of TOGAF™  (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
80 percent of the Forbes Global Top 50 companies are using it (including EDS, HSBC, Hewlett-Packard and other member companies)....More than 32,000 individuals have downloaded it… And approximately 3,000 people have become certified for it. What is it? It’s TOGAF and it’s emerged as the definitive framework among enterprise architects for developing information systems architectures. The second day of the conference will use real-world case studies to showcase some of the possible outcomes when using the TOGAF standard and offer practical advice for getting started with in your own organization.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 30: Skills- and Experience-based Certification for the Enterprise Architect
The Association of Open Group Enterprise Architects (AOGEA) is the definitive professional association for Enterprise Architects. Enterprises need assurance that the staff or service providers they hire have the skills and experience necessary to address the complexities of enterprise architecture. At the same time, professional enterprise architects need a recognized, portable and professional grade qualification to make them more marketable.

The Open Group’s IT Architect Certification (ITAC) program is the premier, global certification program for certifying skills and experience in the enterprise IT architecture community. Based on the proven best practices in the industry, it sets an independent, industry-wide standard for IT Architects and creates a foundation for trust between suppliers and customers.

This day of the conference will highlight the work of the Association and examine the increasing role of standards-based certification programs in assuring today’s architects possess the proper skills and experience.
